Alive

I feel alive when I can determine myself what to do with my time! When the use of my time was determined from the outside, I often felt tired and depleted in the evening, sometimes even the whole day. It seemed like lead was weighing down my arms. My entire body felt heavy. Some evenings, I couldn’t even pull myself together to go to bed. I had difficulty making decisions. My head felt empty. I couldn’t think clearly.

How must our children feel when they don’t have the power to decide over their own learning, over their life?! Instead somebody else decides for them where they have to be at what time, what they need to do and how they should learn.
